I am thrilled to announce the 2018 The Smoke in His Eyes book tour. The tour kicks off in Covington, GA this Thursday (6/14). Launching books in Covington is becoming a bit of an unofficial tradition. My first reading for A Year Since the Rain was there back in 2016 at GPC-Newton. This time, I'll be reading and performing at Irish Bred Pub on the square in downtown.
And speaking of "reading and performing," I'm hoping to bring something a little unique to the table this time. Since this book is about musicians and the ways that the arts intersect with each other and life, I've decided to include a musical element to readings. I'll be playing a mix of originals inspired by the book and covers that helped inspire the book.
I am also incredibly excited to have three dates lines up with L. Austen Johnson, who is a wonderful poet. She is also published by GenZ Publishing, and if you like poetry at all, you should give her stuff a look. Her book is Burning the Bacon.
I will finally get the opportunity to read for the hometown folks in Fayetteville, NC at City Center Gallery & Books on June 28, and I have a date in Marshall, NC during my annual retreat to the Appalachian Mountains.
The tour will wrap up in the fall with a handful of conventions and festivals.
I hope to see you folks out and about!
-Shane
